Hoe het allemaal begon

Ik ben in 1951 in Rotterdam geboren. Na de middelbare school bezocht ik de Rotterdamse kunstacademie maar zette na een jaar mijn opleiding voort aan de Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam.

In 1975 beëindigde ik mijn studie aan de Rijksacademie en besloot mijn studie voort te zetten in Dijon Frankrijk. Dijon heeft een gerenommeerde kunstacademie, de Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts.

Bovendien is Dijon een mooie stad met prachtige kerken en stadspaleizen en het landschap in de omgeving is zeer afwisselend.

Ik had echter grote behoefte om voor mij zelf te werken, iets te doen aan mijn persoonlijke ontwikkeling zodat ik eigenlijk niet veel naar de academie ging maar thuis of buiten werkte.

Tijdens de legendarische zomer van 1976 schilderde ik een aantal stadsgezichten op basis van buiten gemaakte schetsen en had het gevoel een goede lijn te pakken te hebben.
