De Hoogstraat

2011

In early 2011, I was commissioned by Museum Vlaardingen to paint all the facades of Hoogstraat in Vlaardingen in watercolor, both the even and odd sides.

This assignment, which I worked on for five months, was a kind of artistic inventory as part of a project to revitalize Hoogstraat. I created a total of 42 watercolors, each depicting four or five facades. The watercolors are designed to align perfectly, forming a continuous strip from the beginning to the end of the street.

They were on display during the exhibition "Hoogstraat Nu" at Galerie Hollandia in the autumn of 2011.

The Hoogstraat watercolors are featured in the book "Dynamiek en vastewaarden" (Dynamics and Fixed Values) by Klaas Kornaat about the protected cityscape in Vlaardingen, along with more watercolors I created.
